China suspended the entry of citizens of other countries from the United Kingdom, given the increase in cases of COVID-19 in the European country, which has announced a new confinement for England after registering its record number of deaths since May (492) and more than 25,000 infections in a single day.
The Chinese Government reported that this measure also applies to foreigners with visas or residence permits, this in view of the increase in COVID-19 infections in the European country.
According to an announcement published on the website of the Chinese legation in London, quoted today by the official Chinese press, not even foreigners with valid visas or residence permits for China will be able to enter the country.
The formula used for this is that the Embassy and consulates in the United Kingdom will no longer issue health certificates that corroborate the validity of the negative nucleic acid tests (PCR) prior to the flight, an essential requirement for those who intend to travel to China.
The notice does not mention Chinese residents or those who are in the United Kingdom, which suggests that they will be able to return to their country and process the necessary documents to do so.
Crew, diplomatic, service or courtesy visas will not be affected and, according to the Chinese mission in London, emergency permits will continue to be processed .
“The suspension is a temporary response necessary due to the current situation of COVID-19. The measures mentioned will be evaluated according to the changing situation, and any adjustments will be announced accordingly,” the document adds.
