MakerSpace hosted their first workshop of the semester last Friday Jan. 25, 2019. All students and faculty were welcome to attend and create their own customized buttons.

The MakerSpace is here on campus to create an avenue for students to learn about new high tech gadgets that facilitate creativity of all kinds of things. They have 3D printers, vinyl cutters, button makers, sewing machines, knitting needles, a laser cutter, and much more. The space is made possible by the California Community College Maker grant.

Clare Sadnik, faculty coordinator of MakerSpace, is there along with her staff to assist anyone who needs help operating their equipment. Most importantly there is no cost to students to use.

“The student cost is free, that is what’s amazing,” Sadnik said. “Since we’re grant funded all of the supplies are being given away for free and there is no charge to use the equipment.”

Maker Space will be hosting workshops on campus every two weeks, and they keep the space open to students Monday through Friday during their operating hours. They’re open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., and Friday 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1p.m. – 3 p.m. More information about workshops and hours of operation is available on their Instagram.
