On Election Day 2018, we asked students about the importance of voting and the issues they cared about the most. Here’s what they said.

John Louie Menorca is an associate editor at the Student Voice, with an emphasis on multimedia storytelling and supporting the newsroom on technical needs. Returning to the paper for a fifth semester, John Louie fulfills nighttime editing duties, writes video game reviews and manages the Student Voice's equipment for reporters that need the tools to get the job done. In his off time, he loves to drive around, go to far places to find the best food, play video games and listen to audiobooks. He aspires to a career as a video game reporter or a food critic.
Robert Gonzales, Senior reporter
Robert Gonzales is a senior sports reporter. He received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, but was mesmerized investigating the journeys behind the athletes he was studying. This led him to pursue an associate's degree in journalism from Moorpark College. While he loves all sports, his favorite two pastimes are football and basketball. One day he hopes to debate sports topics on national television just like the shows that inspired him to pursue a career in sports journalism.

Shariliz Poveda is a journalism student and a returning staff member to the Student Voice. She enjoys taking pictures and spending time outside. This semester, she is the Arts & Entertainment editor as well and manages the Student Voice's Instagram account.
