America’s Teaching Zoo is hosting their annual Boo at the Zoo event once again this year at Moorpark College. The zoo will be opening their doors this weekend, welcoming adults and children of all ages to celebrate Halloween.

The event is on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27th and 28th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entry to the event is $8 for adults and $6 for children ages three through 12, and children under the age of two are free.

Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the zoo’s not-so-scary decorations and to go trick or treating. There will also be face painting, games, and the chance to participate in a costume contest each day, at 3 p.m. For the slightly more adventurous, the zoo will be having spooky animal shows at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

If the costume contest wasn’t exciting enough, all children who come to the event dressed in a Halloween costume will receive a zoo Bingo card with instructions as they come through the gates. Once all the squares have been filled on the card, head straight down to the kids fun zone to receive a bag of treats!

America’s Teaching Zoo is the only zoo in Ventura County and home of the Exotic Animal Training and Management Program, EATM. This rather unique program teaches students the ins and outs of animal care and management to further animal welfare and animal conservation. It also allows students at Moorpark College to learn “hands-on” how to train exotic and domestic animals.

The zoo is located on the Moorpark College campus at 7075 Campus Road, Moorpark. For questions regarding the Boo at the Zoo event please reach out directly to America’s Teaching Zoo at (805) 378-1441 or refer to their website.
