A journalist who was embedded in Iraq during the war on terror will speak about his experiences to Moorpark College on Friday.

“Art as Resistance,” a presentation that will take place Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Applied Arts Building, will feature a presentation from Dar Jamail, the author of “Beyond the Green Zone: Dispatches from an Embedded Journalist in Occupied Iraq.”

Gray Grzywacz-Gray, event organizer, said that “Art as Resistance” will be a way for students to learn about the true costs of war, while hearing from an author who has experienced conflict first hand.

“He is definitely an anti-war voice,” said Grzywacz-Gray.

The documentary “Iraq, Paper, Scissors” will also be shown. The film documents the Combat Paper Project, where returning soldiers from Iraq use their own uniforms to create works of art.
Works of art created through this project will be on display at the presentation as well.
