What Costs More... Education or Ignorance?
Budget cuts in education across the nation have been constant since the rise of the recession and no end is in sight. Schools at all levels, including colleges and universities, all over the country have felt the economic impact of our recession and as a result have had to cut teachers and programs.

Students Audition for One Acts
Eighty-three students waited to hear their names called as they sat in anticipation of auditioning for Moorpark's One-Act Plays Jan. 17. No guidance was offered to them as they entered the Performing Arts Center. They were simply given monologues by student playwrights and were not given any direction, except to wait.

Lady Raiders Top Bulldogs
Moorpark hosted Allan Hancock Saturday night in their second meeting of the year and won handily 77-53. Hancock's Camille Zumbro came into the the game as the state's leading scorer with just over 30 points a game. It was evident that Zumbro was Hancock's only threat as Moorpark jumped out a 34-10 lead mid-way through the first half.

Lady Raiders downed by Pirates in Final Minute
The Ventura Pirates squeezed out a win over the Lady Raiders in a hard fought game on Wednesday night at Raider Pavilion, 52-48. The Lady Raiders started well, taking the first lead of the game with a shot by Charnae Thomas and maintained the lead through the first 10 minutes of the half, with a score of 13-11.

Men's Basketball Beats Cuesta
The Moorpark College men's basketball team improved its overall record to 5-12, with their 75-66 win over Cuesta College last Wednesday night. The Raiders conference record improved to 1-1 with the win. Coming out from their bye week, the Raiders welcomed the first-place Cougars with the game's first points.

Women's Basketball Beats Cuesta
The Lady Raiders moved to (2-0) last night in their conference home opener with a 67-56 victory over the visiting Cuesta College Cougars. The Raiders jumped on Cuesta from the start and had a 25-7 lead in middle of the first half. The spark was fueled by freshman Kathleen Avery who had 10 points in the first half alone and eventually finished the game with 14 points.
