In Greek mythology Pandora's Box is full of ills and toils, but MC's Pandora's Box is just the opposite.

Pandora's Boxis a series of short plays, monologues, poems, songs and dances; which are written, produced, created and acted by Moorpark College's theatre arts students and faculty.

"I chose the name "Pandora's Box" because there are just going to be a whole lot of shocks and surprises," said Theatre Arts professor Kathy Lewis. "A lot of shocks and surprises." The show will be filled with many different forms of entertainment.

The event includes monologues and poems about avariety of topics: overcoming the trauma of physical abuse, the challenges of living by your own rules, the experience of facing death and surviving, murder and a string of pearls.

Three comedic plays will be performed along with a song and dance explaining the film genre Bollywood, and a video called "Bob Ferber," talking about Bob's joy in a life of service.

"I am just impressed by the creativity of my students, and I think the audience will be too," said Lewis. "The things that they are doing are just so courageous. Creative and courageous, courageous and outrageous."

The event will be held at the PAC studio theatre (PA100) on February 17, 18, 19 and 20, at 7:30 pm.

On February 17 Pandora's Box will be opening with a free matinee performance at 1:30pm, as well as the normal night show at 7:30pm. Tickets for the evening event will be sold for $8.

To purchase tickets in advance, visit >www.moorparkcollege.edu/pac or call the box office at (805) 378-1485. The performance length is two hours with intermission, and is for mature audiences only.
